I listened to this book on tape and not only did the Southern accents draw me in the story captured me from beginning to end. Each narrator was my favorite during their chapters, each story went unexpectantly in ways I could not have predicted. At first it sort of bothered me that this was written by a white woman and hearing the black maids point of view through a white womans pen was irritating. Once you let go of that the characters are rich in development and evolve throughout the story. Even my boyfriend caught bits and pieces while we were in the car together and he loved it (and hated Miss Hilly). This makes me want to live in the South and see what has changed since 1964.

When I started reading ‘Artemis Fowl’ I didn’t know what to expect. I had just heard it was a popular series with tweens and young teens, but had heard little beyond that. At first I wasn’t too impressed, I found all the LEPrecon stuff a little too cute. But once Artemis sets his scheme in motion with the kidnapping of Holly, the book really picks up steam. In essence, ‘Artemis Fowl’ is a very good heist story, but one with fairies, trolls, dwarfs and 12 year old criminal masterminds. A lot of fun.

We injoy the games and the work out that is on the wii fit plus. The work out has helped to trim and tone the body. I can see an improvement already.

I won’t try to tell you what this book is about….there are many other reviews here that can do that much better than I can….I just want to let you know how it made me feel.
I had the miraculous privilege of growing up with all of our “ole folk”. Both sets of my great-grandparents lived well into their 90’s. For anyone who had this kind of wonder in their lives, you know what a blessing that was….and for those who didn’t…..well my heart aches for your not knowing what you missed. Watching and listening to; in particular, my Grand-dad E. was both heart breaking and fabulous! His mind was sharp and exact till the end…even though sometimes his physical self didn’t follow suit the way he thought it should. Even with all of the frustration that came with getting older and losing control of parts of his life, he always had advice to give and stories to tell. I would stay up at the barn with him all through the summer days, helping him work on his projects while he explained to me how to tell when a snake was venomous or showing me how to brush the horses out at the end of the day, because no matter how tired you where…they had worked harder. I am filled with memories of sitting and listening to him telling tales of when he was in his 20’s and 30’s and what they all did to get by during the depression. He also made sure I knew how wonderful it was to get sit out in the field you’d been working in all day and eat your fill of the melons that were being harvested. Reading this book was like sitting in that barn all of those years ago listening to this man that I love so much, tell me about a world that we can’t even imagine while he showed me the right way to do things in the world that I lived in now.

This whole series is great! I love how the author captures your attention at the very beginning and then keeps me enthralled throughout the entire book. There is action, adventure, and mystery as well as character development. This is an easy read and very enjoyable!

Just as Root was about to pay the ransom, Lieutenant Cudgeon put a full grown bull troll in the manor. Butler took the troll on and lost, Holly got hurt also but healed Butler with her powers, then Butler deated the troll with a lance in a suit of armor and threw it back in the hover trol
